You clicked this becuase you want to know why i have a site archive, presumably. My andswer is sort of lame, and incredibly late, i built this part of my site over a year ago and havent yet added the "why" till mid 2026, despite it being one of the only features. i think it's cool, i like to look back at all of the progress ive made and i think others would enjoy it too. in my opinion ive gotten pretty good at the whole coding thing so looking back at generation 1 makes me laugh at how TERRIFIED i was of CSS, i coded the whole thing in HTML and then had to tech myself how to fix everything later.
but look at me now! i have autoplaying music which i still dont know how i managed as it showed up on completely the wrong page and with a different song than what i was coding. im trying to figure out how to make my site mobile friendly and im still deathly afraid of flexboxes lol.
Coding has been a hobby of mine for a year or two now and it's influenced a lot of how i view the internet, individuality and effort in general. i think everyone should try and learn to code, its a digital age now and social media platforms deeply limit how you can express yourself. using a platform like squarespace to make AI do all the work for you just drains all of the joy, creativity and art out of the internet. this whole thing was invented so that people could do things! i think. everyone used to code their own sites, myspaces or tumblrs but now thats not even allowed anymore without paying. coding isnt hard, you can pick it up in a month or two if you go about it the right way, and i think its a good skill to have. when the AI bubble bursts and all teh social media platforms common now crash, i think lots of people will revert to the indieweb. its so much fun out here.
if you want to learn to code i have some recources in my 'links' page! i hope this covers it, have fun surfing my web :)
